This week in Warhammer – Warcry enters Ghur with a new edition

Games Workshop have previewed the next batch of Warhammer preorders coming soon, and while there is only one new release, its another hefty two-player boxed set.

As with every Sunday preview, Games Workshop released a short intro video showing off the upcoming releases and what gamers can expect from this week’s round of Warhammer Community articles, Twitch streams, and Warhammer+ content.

This week’s only preorder is the massive Warcry: Heart of Ghur boxed set that kicks off the fantasy skirmish game’s next edition. Warcry will be leaving the Eightpoints behind and traveling to the dangerous and impenetrable jungles of Ghur, the Realm of Beasts that has been the setting for most of Age of Sigmar 3rd Edition’s big fights and storyline.

This boxed set contains 20 plastic miniatures divided between two Chaos warbands: the Rotmire Creed and the Horns of Hashut.

The Rotmire Creed are a band of Chaos cultists loosely aligned with Nurgle, though they don’t necessarily know the Lord of Pestilence by that name. They seek to find the ultimate plague so they can spread the embrace of Grandfather Nurgle across the Mortal Realms.

Meanwhile, the Horns of Hashut worship the forgotten patron deity of the Chaos Dwarves from the Old World of Warhammer Fantasy. They seek only to burn down the dense Gnarlwood of Ghur so they can raise an industrious empire of fire and tyranny for their dark god.

As with all Warcry boxed sets, Heart of Ghur also comes with a rulebook, token sheet, dice, scenario cards, and some brand-new twisted terrain to represent the treacherous forests of the Gnarlwood.

If you order Warcry: Heart of Ghur direct from Games Workshop you’ll also get a fancy metal measuring widget while supplies last.

Gamers who are already invested in Warcry‘s many previous warbands will be able to buy the Warcry Compendium sometime in the next few weeks. This tome contains all the rules updates and stats you’ll need to play with your current models in the new edition.

Warcry: Heart of Ghur will go up for preorder on July 30th, and will get a full release the following week.

Finally, Gen Con 2022 will be running from August 4th through the 7th, and unsurprisingly, Games Workshop have announced that they will attend the event with a ton of reveals for upcoming Warhammer products.
